FULL REVIEW | Aceable Agent Online Real Estate Courses

4.7

PROS

All-in-One convenient package. Engaging course format. Money-back guarantee. Frequent promotions. Mobile app.

CONS

No extra options to add-on. Courses for post-license and CE not available for most states. No hardcopy books.

Aceable Agent, based in Austin, Texas, is one of the newest real estate schools in the industry, and they are not wasting any time making a name for themselves. Their goal is to disrupt online education by making the courses more engaging and leveraging technology to make learning a truly mobile experience.

We take a deep dive into their online real estate programs to see if Aceable Agent is the best choice to help you launch a new career as a real estate agent.

Pricing

Most real estate schools will offer two or three packages to choose from. Aceable Agent  has taken a different approach and created an All-in-One package solution. They have taken out all of the guesswork and included everything you need to successfully get licensed.

If you are new to the real estate industry, this simplifies the process and makes it easy. However, if you are looking to build your own custom package, this may not work for you.

Every state has their own course and exam requirements. At the time of this review, Aceable Agent has real estate programs in eight states, and their packages are competitively priced in the middle of the price range relative to the rest of the industry.

You should be aware that after you get your real state license, the real estate commission for your state requires you to take additional courses to renew your license. The biggest thing missing with Aceable Agent is their limited course offering for continuing education and post-licensing. Currently, they only offer continuing education for Texas. However, they are rapidly rolling out their programs in other states, so by the time you need to renew your real estate license in a couple of years, they may have them ready for your state.

Money-Back Guarantee

After you complete the online real estate courses, your state requires you to take a real estate exam at a designated testing center. Aceable Agent guarantees that you will pass this exam, or they will give you 100% of your money back with their Ace the Exam Guarantee

It is reassuring to see how confident they are with their courses, especially when other schools don’t have this guarantee. However, there is some fine print that you should be aware of.

To qualify for the Ace the Exam Guarantee, you need to:

  • Purchase a pre-license course package through Aceable Agent
  • Complete all of the included courses
  • Complete the Ultimate Exam Prep course – it’s included as well
  • Score 85% or higher on at least one practice test (take as many practice tests as you need to reach 85% or higher)
  • Take the licensing exam within 90 days of completing the Ultimate Exam Prep course (attempt to pass at least 3 times)
  • Email support@aceableagent.com and include a copy of your three score reports

Taking the Courses

When you log into your account for the first time, you are greeted by your virtual instructor that goes through a brief introduction. This personal touch made me feel welcomed and excited to get started.

Dashboard

The Dashboard is the main page where you can access all of your courses, study materials, and course certificates for when you finish your course. I found it to be easy to navigate and simple to use.

What is unique to Aceable Agent is how they organize their courses. Each course is broken up into levels, and each level is further broken down into chapters. You go through each chapter one at a time and need to complete all the chapters to reach the next level. The idea is that you are studying the material in small bites, as opposed to studying in large chunks. You get 6 months of unlimited online access to complete the courses, which is the industry standard that you will get from most real estate schools.

Course Layout

When you open up a real estate course, you see one page of course text at a time. It has a clean look and feels like you are reading a book. Just online. You can study at any time and take as many breaks as you need.

The courses were designed to help you retain as much information as possible, especially for people who haven’t attended school in a while. There are lots of pictures and diagrams scattered throughout the course. The material is easy to follow, and they try to ameliorate mundane topics by dropping in some cheesy humor periodically.

Note: If you are in California, the course is set up a little differently. You get access to the full course text in a PDF format. I actually prefer this way because you can read through the material much faster and requires fewer mouse clicks.

Mobile App

You would think that schools nowadays would all have a mobile app. However, you would be wrong.

The biggest feature that really sets Aceable Agent apart from other real estate schools is the fact that they actually have a mobile app that you can download on your phone from the Apple App Store or Google Play. The courses look very clean and easy to read. It is set up so that you go through it one screen at a time, so you don’t have to keep scrolling down the page.

This makes studying-on-the-go so much easier and convenient. You don’t have to lug a heavy laptop or thick textbook around. Whenever you find yourself waiting in line somewhere, you can quickly pull it out and study for a little bit. Personally, I found the mobile interface easier to navigate through because you can just swipe through the pages with your thumb.

Mastery Tools

As you go through the course, Aceable Agent helps you stay engaged by incorporating a variety of mastery tools. These are short “quizzes” to test your knowledge on the reading materials and have been developed to help you retain as much information as possible.

The Facts of a Feather is a combination of matching and multiple-choice.

There are question and answer sections, where you write your answers down in full sentences. Your response is evaluated by one of the real estate instructors.

And of course, there are the standard multiple-choice quizzes. These make up the vast majority of the tools to help you master the material.

One thing that I really liked about Aceable Agent was that if you answered a question incorrectly, they give you an explanation of the correct answer.

Passing Requirements

In order to get credit for passing the course, you will have to complete all of the mastery tools. There will be a cumulative multiple-choice final exam at the end of each course.

How many questions and how long the final exams are will be dictated by the state you are in. Every state has their own regulations on final exam requirements. Some states require proctors to be present during the final exam. These are people who will be physically (or virtually) watching you while you take the exam. This is to prevent any cheating.

Aceable Agent has partnered with an online proctoring service called Examity. You will be able to take your final exams from the comfort of your own home at a time that is convenient for you. The Examity proctors will typically monitor you during the exam through a webcam.

State Exam Prep

After you complete the pre-licensing courses, your state requires you to pass a real estate exam, which is typically done at a testing center. Aceable Agent has multiple-choice practice tests to help you prepare by simulating the actual exam. They were developed by a staff of Harvard-educated instructors using proven methodology. You get unlimited access to these practice tests and can take them as many times as you need in order to hone in your test-taking skills.

Mobile App

You can access the practice tests through their mobile app. One question is displayed on the screen at a time. After you finish going through all of the questions, it will give you your final score. You have the option to go back and review the questions that you missed if you want.

Exam Pass Rates

Does their test prep actually work and help people successfully pass the exam? As the saying goes, the proof is in the pudding.

To get an idea of how well their practice tests worked in the real world, I checked out the pass rates published by the Texas Real Estate Commission. This is pulled directly from the state agency, so this data is the real deal.

This is how Aceable Agent stacks up against the other large online real estate schools in Texas.

Support

If you have any questions on the course or need technical assistance, Aceable Agent provides comprehensive support options through phone, chat, and email. They are available an impressive 7 days a week with the following office hours:

Sunday through Thursday: 8 am to 9 pm CST
Friday: 8 am to 7 pm CST
Saturday: 10 am to 7 pm CST

If you need help outside of these hours or want to quickly get the answer yourself, they have a self-help resource called the Help Center. This is an ever-growing database that gets updated dynamically as new questions come up. I found this to be a great resource that answered almost all of my questions.

Reviews

Nowadays, there are review sites galore. But which ones can you trust? I went through all of the major review sites to see what they thought of Aceable Agent

Self Reviews

Aceable Agent surveys its own students and reports that it has received a score of 4.7 out of 5 possible points based on over a thousand reviews. Personally, I don’t put much weight on these self-reported reviews because schools will obviously try to make themselves look good.

Facebook

On Facebook, they received a favorable score of 4.6 out of 5 points. However, this is taken from a very small sample size of only 40 people, so this isn’t statistically meaningful.

Trustpilot

Aceable Agent received a rating of Excellent on Trustpilot. This is based on 1,324 reviews, which sounds really good. However, I would take any review from Trustpilot with a grain of salt. They are notorious for providing unreliable figures that skew in favor of the company that is being reviewed.

Google

I’ve found the reviews on Google to be fairly reliable, so it was concerning to see Aceable with a mediocre score of only 3.8 out of 5 stars. However, this was based on feedback from only 26 people, so like Facebook, this really isn’t meaningful for a rapidly-growing school with thousands of students.

Apple

In my experience, the reviews that you find in the Apple App Store are the best and most reliable reviews. You don’t have to worry about companies trying to manipulate the data by paying people to offer biased opinions because Apple makes sure each review comes from a unique user. There is no way to cheat the system.

Aceable Agent has a nearly perfect score of 4.9 out of a 5-star rating based on 2,348 reviews. Nobody gave them a low 1-star or 2-star rating. This is great to see because it shows a clear consensus that pretty much everybody feels that Aceable Agent has an excellent program.

Bottom Line

Aceable Agent has a solid program and is quietly disrupting the online education industry. They are still a relatively young school, so you can only use them to obtain a real estate license. They have few, if any, courses to renew an existing license. I would expect that to be changing in the near future.

Their real estate program brings a lot of swag to online learning. They incorporate videos and interactive quizzes to keep you engaged. What really sets them apart is their mobile app. I haven’t seen another real estate school that has done a better job of seamlessly integrating technology to make studying easier and more convenient.

However, you don’t get a lot of options to choose from with their courses. It’s an “our way or the highway” approach. Fortunately, they seem to have figured out the right formula as evidenced by having the best exam pass rates in the industry, which are further backed by their Ace the Exam Guarantee. I would definitely feel confident in recommending Aceable Agent to my friends and family members.

Top 4 Online Real Estate Schools in Pennsylvania

There are few careers that are as rewarding as being a real estate agent. You get to make your own schedule, meet new people and can make as much money as you want. In order to work in the real estate industry, the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission requires that you obtain a real estate license by completing 75 hours of pre-licensing education and passing the salesperson exam.

It’s actually a fairly simple process to get licensed. However, that will mainly depend on which school you choose to get licensed. Going with an education provider with a solid program will eliminate future stress and could be the difference between launching a successful career or deciding to quit altogether. To save you the hassle, we have compiled a list of the best real estate schools in Pennsylvania that will help you get to the next level.

Perfect for Building a Long-Term Career

Real Estate Express is been serving the real estate community for over 30 years. They are the largest player in the game with more courses and more options than any other school. If you made the commitment to pursue a real estate career and are planning for the long-term, they will be able to help you every step of the way.

The biggest issue you will probably have with Real Estate Express is trying to figure out which package to go with since they give you so many options to choose from. The Basics package gives you the two required pre-license courses online with instructor support via email only. You can also download the course text in a PDF file. However, this will not be enough to prepare for the salesperson exam.

The Exam Preparation package helps you with that. You get 1,000 online practice test questions added to the program that is covered with a Pass or Don’t Pay Guarantee. If you don’t pass the test, they give you all your money back. If you feel that you will need to call an instructor and get your questions answered, that live support is covered under Instructor Q&A in the next package up called the Exam Preparation Plus.

The top package, Ultimate Learning, will give you hardcopy books that you can read from. The contents are identical to what you get online, but reading from a physical book makes studying easier. It also includes Professional Development training where you get access to hundreds of short video lessons, job aids, and continual access to instructors for a year to help you launch your career.

Perfect for Busy People

Most real estate schools have been around for decades. They have been doing the same thing with the same courses with little change, if any. Aceable Agent is a newcomer to real estate education and saw a need for a fresh approach. They strive to leverage modern technology to make learning more engaging and convenient. In fact, they were the first school to offer a mobile app that you can download to your phone to access the courses on the go.

Aceable Agent understands that you have a goal to become a licensed real estate agent in Pennsylvania. That’s why they built an all-in-one solution to get you there. While other schools offer multiple packages and give you a bunch of options that you don’t need, they stick to the essentials. Their courses were actually developed by some of the most successful real estate agents in the business, so they know exactly what you will need to be successful. If you are still on the fence, they cover their program with their Ace-the-Test Guarantee, meaning that they will give you a complete refund if you don’t pass the salesperson exam.

They don’t have continuing education or any other additional training once you get license, so this program is strictly for new people trying to obtain the real estate license. Additionally, if you already have a full-time job or tied up with a lot of other time-consuming commitments, this program will save you the most time.

Perfect for People Who Love Learning

Mbition is one of the premier providers of real estate education. They do more than just do real estate. They also have programs in appraisal, home inspection, and mortgage loan origination. While their online courses are pretty standard, they give you the option of adding on their robust exam prep tools that will guarantee your chances of passing the salesperson exam.

Mbition gives you three packages to choose from. The Silver solution comes with the required 75 hours of pre-licensing education. If you want to take advantage of their proprietary test prep, Prep xL, you will need to upgrade to the next two packages: Gold or Platinum.

What makes Prep xL so powerful is that it adapts to your learning skill as you go. It will adjust practice test questions to match your progress so that you continually build your knowledge. You save time by focusing on the areas that you are weak in, since the areas you already strong in, you don’t need to practice on.

Hardcopy books are available with the top Platinum solution package, where they will send the books to you by mail. This makes studying a whole lot easier since you can hold the books in your hands.

Perfect for Interactive Learning

Kaplan is a massive company within the education industry. They have thousands of programs located all over the world, so it’s not a surprise to see that they also have a program for real estate licensing. What’s made Kaplan so successful is that they make their courses as interactive as possible. You aren’t just reading a book the whole time. There are video clips and live discussion sessions incorporated into all of their programs.

Kaplan has an all-inclusive package to help you get licensed in Pennsylvania. In addition to the required Pennsylvania Real Estate Fundamentals and Practice courses, you get their propriety QBank test engine as well as access to the Interactive Study Groups. The QBank is a powerful test simulator that mimics what you will see on the actual salesperson exam. You can set it so that it tests you on just the national portion, state portion, or both. The Interactive Study Groups are live webinar sessions that are held on specific days and at scheduled times. You can interact with the faculty or other students in a lively discussion and ask any questions that you have. This makes you feel like you are in a classroom.

If you are interested in taking your career to the next level, you can add on their Real Estate Accelerator program in their Career Launcher package. This is an intense 8-hour course that will prepare you to hit the ground running after you get licensed. You will get real-world training and skills need to thrive in today’s real estate market. You will also get 8 continuous weeks of one-on-one coaching with a certified real estate instructor.

Top 5 Online Real Estate Schools in Michigan

Buying a house is the biggest financial decision for most people. That’s why government regulators want to make sure that whoever helps you buy or sell a house can be trusted. Requiring real estate agents to obtain a license holds them accountable while keeping the public safe.

The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) is the state agency that oversees and enforces the real estate licensing requirements. In order to obtain a real estate license, they require you to complete 40 hours of approved pre-license classes as well as pass the salesperson’s exam at a designated testing center. Once you get your license, you will need to pick a broker of your choice to be able to work on real estate transactions.

Fortunately, it’s a simple process to get a real estate license. In fact, most people getting into the industry have no previous real estate experience and are already working full-time jobs. The hardest part will be trying to find the best real estate school. Here is a list of the top 5 online real estate schools that we have found in Michigan that will set you up for success.

Best for Getting the Most Value

Real Estate Express is the current market leader in real estate education. They have more of everything than any other school. They have more courses in more states, more exam prep, and more instructors on staff.

You get to choose from four different packages. They all contain the required 40-hour online course, which is text-based. You get 6 months to pass all the quizzes and final exam. If you want extra exam prep and support, they are available with the more expensive packages. If you want to study out of a hardcopy book, you can get that with the top package called Ultimate Learning.

Real Estate Express has a solid program. They don’t do anything particularly innovative. Everything is just your run-of-the-mill online course and practice tests. However, they do offer a lot of options that allow you to create a program that is tailored to your specific needs. With promotions going on all the time, they are worth a look.

Perfect for Busy People

Aceable Agent is one of the newest real estate schools on the scene. While they are still a small school with programs in just seven states, they have been quietly using technology to disrupt the way people learn. They are the only real estate provider with a dedicated mobile app that you can download to your phone, making studying on the go a snap. The content inside of the courses has been written by successful real estate agents who are out in the field closing actual real estate transactions, not instructors who sit behind a desk all day.

What really sets them apart is their all-in-one solution package. Other schools will have multiple packages for you to choose from. Aceable Agent has decided to supply you with everything already built in. With their one package, you won’t need to purchase any additional exam prep, and it is covered by their Ace The Test Guarantee, which says they will give you all your money back if you don’t pass the state exam.

With over 1,000 reviews giving them a score of 4.7 out of 5 points possible, Aceable Agent is our clear favorite for getting your real estate license in Michigan.

Perfect for Learning from the Best

Kaplan is a household name when it comes to education. They have been around for almost a hundred years and have over a million students in 28 different countries. They provide a premium service, but it comes with premium pricing. In fact, they are the only real estate school that doesn’t ever discount their courses.

A big part why people have been so successful with Kaplan’s real estate program is that it includes their proprietary QBank exam prep and Interactive Study Groups. The QBank is an online practice test engine that covers both the national and state portions of the salesperson’s exam. You can use it to simulate nearly any testing environment imaginable. The Interactive Study Groups are live webinar sessions scheduled at specific times and on specific dates. It is intended to make distance learning feel more like a classroom, where you can join faculty and other students in discussing engaging topics. They help reinforce key concepts that you have learned and allow you to ask questions.

Perfect for Preparing for the State Exam

OnCourse Learning is one of the biggest schools in the nation. They are specifically focused on the real estate industry, but they do offer courses in home inspection and appraisal as well. Their program is pretty much what you would expect from an online school.

What sets them apart is their proprietary exam prep called PrepxL. This powerful tool tracks how you are doing in each category and targets the areas you are struggling in by drilling you with quizzes. You won’t have to waste your time taking practice tests in the areas you are already doing well in.

OnCourse Learning gives you three package options to get the Michigan real estate license. The Silver package only gets you the required 40-hour online course. You can add on the PrepxL exam prep by upgrading to the next package called the Gold Solution. If you want to get hardcopy books to go along with the online reading, they are available in the Platinum package. This package also includes additional video exam prep that you can watch online to help you study for the state exam.

Perfect for People Who Love to Learn

The CE Shop has built a comprehensive platform for obtaining a Michigan real estate license. In fact, they even have a name for it called the LEAP system. While this program is 100% online-only, it is constantly being updated in order to keep up with current market trends.

What differentiates The CE Shop from other schools is that they really stress understanding the material. They are thorough in their approach and quiz you in multiple ways and from every angle. If you have questions, they have support available 7 days a week.

There are no shortcuts here. You will genuinely need to know the material in order to move on to the next section. Although this will take you longer to finish the courses, you will be armed with more knowledge than at any other school. They do give you a free one-month extension, on top of the 6 months of regular course access, for a total of 7 months to complete everything.

Real Estate Express Has A New Look – FULL REVIEW

4.6

PROS

Customizable packages. Post-license training. Money-back guarantee. Frequent promotions. Hardcopy books available.

CONS

Limited support hours. No live or interactive pre-license courses. No mobile app.

Real Estate Express just came out with a new platform for their online real estate courses. It has a completely new look and feel. Some of the changes are good, while others are questionable. We will dive into a comprehensive review of the new Real Estate Express platform to see if it will be the best choice for you to get a real estate license.

For the purposes of this review, we will be focusing on their California program. However, if you are in a different state, the real estate program are all the same. It is just the material in the courses that will be different.

Pricing

No matter which state you are from, Real Estate Express always gives you 4 packages to choose from to obtain your real estate license. There is a wide range of pricing options available (and frequent promotions), so you should be able to find something that fits within your budget.

The Basics package includes the online course that fulfills your state’s education requirements. The text-based course is just like reading a book, and you get 6 months of unlimited access to finish the course. If you have questions, this package only includes email support, so it may take up to 24 hours before you get a response back. With the 3 eBooks, you can download the entire course text in a PDF file for offline viewing as well as the two supplemental study materials, Math handbook and Quick Start guide, to give you additional tips.

If you have a small budget or already a lot of real estate experience, this package will work the best for you.

The Exam Preparation package is really the minimum package that most people should go with, because it includes test prep for the real estate exam that you are going to have to take at a designated testing center. You get access to over 1,000 online multiple-choice practice test questions just like what you see on the actual test. This is covered by their Pass or Don’t Pay Guarantee, which means that if you do not pass the real estate exam, they will give you 100% of your money back.

The Exam Preparation Plus package is the most popular and delivers the most value. You get a lot more comprehensive study materials for the real estate test. The Exam Cram Video includes over 11 hours of video content that walks you through the state exam from beginning to end. It makes you feel like you are watching this in a classroom. If you have questions, this package also includes live instructor support through the Instructor Q&A, where you can ask questions directly and get an immediate answer back. If your state requires post-license education, this package will also include that as well.

If you want the best chance for successfully getting licensed on your first try, your best bet is to go with the Ultimate Learning package. This is the most expensive option because it includes hardcopy books to accompany the online courses and provides extra training courses for you to take after you get licensed. The 90-day Bootcamp is a video course that is led by real estate coach Sheri Johnson. She will show you how to close your first real estate transaction in the first 90 days of getting licensed. The Professional Development gives you access to a database of supplemental resources, such as webinars, job-aids, discussion forum, partner discounts, and more.

User Interface

Dashboard

When you log in to your Real Estate Express account, you are welcomed with a simple and clean interface. It is relatively easy to navigate through and find what you are looking for. You can access your account settings to change your password, view past receipts, and update your contact information in the profile section on the top right corner.

The courses that you are enrolled in show up on the front page. There is a navigation pane on the left side that allows you to quickly jump to your online courses, certificates for courses that you have already completed, or to get help searching for a broker under Career Support.

The only issue that I found with the dashboard was the order in which the courses were being displayed. The exam prep is listed at the top of the page and the course that you will actually be taking first shows up at the bottom. That means that every time you log in to your account, you will have to scroll all the way down to the bottom to get to your first course. There is a Sort function that is available, but it does not seem to be working or help with this.

Taking the Courses

You are given 6 months of unlimited access to complete any course that you have opened. This is important because most states require more than one course (and you can only take one course at a time), so your 6 months won’t start until you open each individual course. However, you will still have a maximum of 1 year to finish all of the pre-license courses in your package, even if you have not opened it.

Course Layout

The way the course is actually laid out is pretty standard for an online course. You get a page of text, and you just read through it like a book. There is a navigation pane on the left side which allows you to jump chapters. However, if you need to take a break and log out, it will save your spot. There is a also a progress tracker at the bottom, so you can see how much you have completed and how left you have to do.

Passing Requirements

Regardless of which state you are in, all of the online courses require that you pass the multiple-choice quizzes that are at the end of each chapter as well as a cumulative final exam at the end of the course.

You can attempt to pass the quizzes an unlimited number of times. However, you may be required to read the chapter again first. For the final exams, you are given 2 attempts before you have to pay a re-take fee.

Depending on your state, you may have to spend a certain amount of hours logged in online. Real Estate Express will track this for you automatically, and you can check your progress as you go. If your state does not require this, then you just need to pass the quizzes and final exam.

Some states will also require proctored final exams. A proctor is someone who will monitor you while you take the final exam. This is to ensure that it is you taking the exam and that there is no cheating going on. Real Estate Express provides online proctoring for some of their programs, where their proctor will watch you take the test via a webcam. You can also designate your own proctors. However, not anyone will qualify. They cannot live at the same residence or be related to you. You can check with your state to see their proctoring requirements.

State Exam Prep

After you fulfill the pre-licensing course requirements, all states will require you to take a real estate exam at a testing center. Real Estate Express provides several study tools to help you pass the exam successfully.

Exam Prep Master

This is what is included in the packages under “Exam Prep.” It is a compilation of over 1,000 multiple choice questions designed to simulate the actual exam. You answer each question one at a time. If you answer incorrectly, it will give you a brief explanation on the correct answer. There are  a variety of different ways you can take these questions.

The most straight-forward way is to take the Progress Exams. Instead of having you answer all of the questions at once, they are broken down into ten manageable practice tests that consist of 45 questions each. To qualify for their Pass or Don’t Pay Guarantee, you will need to score an 80% or better on all of them. You have an unlimited number of attempts to pass.

After the Progress Exams, there are two national and three state final exams that will give you a breakdown summary of how you are doing by topic.

You can then create your own practice custom exams based on the topics of your choice. That way, you can focus on the areas where you need most improvement, since you won’t need to spend as much time studying on the topics you are already strong in.

Exam Cram Video (California only)

For the Exam Preparation Plus and Ultimate Learning packages, there is an additional video course that is included. This consists of over 11 hours of instruction that walks you through the seven main areas of the California real estate exam. This is a recorded video, so you can watch and re-watch it as needed.

Real Estate Express - Exam Cram Video

Supplemental Materials

All of their programs come with complimentary flashcards that you can download.

If you prefer to read out of a physical book, you can only get them with the Ultimate Learning package.

Support

State-Approved Instructor Support

All of their programs include email support with a certified real estate instructor. You can email them directly, or ask them right inside of the course. It may take 1 to 2 business days to get a response back. Support is available Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm CST.

Instructor Q&A

If you want to be able to talk to the instructor directly, the top two packages Exam Preparation Plus and Ultimate Learning include live webinar support. There are typically three sessions available throughout the day from Monday through Friday. Some sessions have pre-determined course topics and others are open sessions where you can just ask any question. They publish a new webinar schedule each month and will email it to you.

Career Development

After you get your real estate license, Real Estate Express provides additional training to help you launch your real estate career. Although you can purchase these tools directly as standalone products, you get the best deal if you sign up for the Ultimate Learning package.

Bottom Line

It’s not hard to see why Real Estate Express is leading the way in real estate education. They are the only school to offer a complete career solution, offering courses not just to help you get licensed but also ongoing tools to help you take your career to the next level.

The biggest area where they could improve is by offering more variety in terms of course format to make the classes more engaging. Currently, all of their pre-licensing courses are only text-based, which can get boring at times. It would be nice if they offered live webinars or recorded video pre-license courses that are available with some of the other education providers.

Nonetheless, Real Estate Express offers more packages and options than any other real estate school, which gives you the flexibility to study as much or as little as you want. The courses have a modern look and the layout is easy to follow. Their money-back guarantee along with their frequent promotions make this hard to beat. I would not hesitate to recommend this to a family member or friend.

REVIEW | Texas Real Estate Online Classes

Everybody who wants to get into the real estate industry has the same goal of obtaining a real estate license. However, not everyone is doing it for the same reason.

That’s why it is important to find the right real estate school that understands where you are coming from and what your needs will be. We have reviewed the entire list of Texas-accredited real estate schools and found the best programs that are tailored to fit your individual situation.

If you already have a full-time job or looking for a career change, we recommend:

Aceable Agent has the hottest real estate program in Texas right now. They are actually the newest real estate school in the industry, yet they have soared to being one of the top 3 schools in terms of the number of people getting licensed each year. They have accomplished this by perfecting a learning system that has engaging content, adapts to your own learning style, and by leaving out the stuff that isn’t important.

While other schools have multiple packages for you to choose from, they have only have one package. That’s because your goal is to get a real estate license, so they have packaged everything into an All-in-One solution for you to make that happen. You don’t ever have to worry about not having enough study materials or second guessing yourself with the “would’ve”, “could’ve”, “should’ve” thoughts. You get everything right the first time, saving time for busy working professionals.

The courses are online with videos incorporated throughout. There is a mobile app that you can download on your phone, so you can easily study from anywhere. If their industry-leading 79.6% pass rate on the Agent exam still doesn’t have you convinced, they back up their program with their Ace the Test Guarantee, which means that if you don’t pass the Agent exam, they will give you 100% refund.

If you want to build the foundation for a long-term career, we recommend:

Real Estate Express is the largest online real estate school in the country. They have a ton of courses, the biggest staff of instructors, and a lot of resources to help you during your entire career. Real Estate Express also gives you the most choices with four packages to choose from. If you tend to overanalyze things like I do sometimes, this can leave you in a state of “paralysis by analysis.”

If you are 100% committed to being a real estate agent and planning for the long-term, the Exam Preparation Plus package is the best program to build your career from.

You not only get the first 6 courses to get licensed (180 total hours), but it also includes the other 3 courses (90 hours of SAE courses) that are required after you get licensed. TREC does give you 2 years after you are licensed to turn in your SAE courses. However, if you do them earlier, they will prepare you for the Agent Exam more by giving you that additional 90 hours of knowledge under your belt. Not to mention you save a ton of money. If you buy it later, Real Estate Express charges $249 for the 90-hour SAE package.

To top it off, you get access to talk to the instructors with the Instructor Q&A sessions. There are 3 live webinar sessions Monday through Friday at specific times where the instructor is on a webcam answering your questions on the spot.

If you don’t like reading books or get distractedly easily, we recommend:

Kaplan is one of the biggest names in education around the world. For over 80 years, they have been a beacon for expanding access to education and a leader in innovation. They have over a million students worldwide in a hundred different countries. While they have courses available in every format, where they really excel is with their live classes.

If reading a book is too boring and not going to work for you, we recommend going with the Live Online Solution (180-Credit Hours) package. These classes make you feel like you are in a real classroom. You are engaged the whole time because you are watching the instructor give a live stream video presentation. If you have any questions, you can ask them right on the spot. That does also mean that the classes start on specific dates and times, so you have to make sure you login on time. However, you don’t have to worry about traffic or driving anywhere. You can just watch from the comfort of your house.

If you absolutely need to be in a physical classroom to stay engaged, they do have that option as well. The Live Class Solution package is available for an additional $100.

If you won’t need any help on the courses or want to save the most money, we recommend:

360training.com is one of the premier providers of online education. They primarily specialize in real estate, the food and beverage industry, and environmental health and safety. Having been around for over 20 years, they have helped millions of people get licensed with their courses. 360training.com really focuses on getting what you need to fulfill state regulatory requirements at the lowest cost. They don’t have any additional career training options, job aids, or even live support.

If you have a lot of real estate experience already and won’t need any help, then the 180-hour Basic Texas Pre-License Package is the most cost-effective option for you. This would also be good if you just want to try out real estate as a hobby, since these courses are so cheap.

These online courses are in the standard text-based format, where you can unlimited access for 6 months. There will be multiple-choice quizzes and tests as you move through the course. There is nothing fancy about it, but it gets the job done while saving you a ton of money.

Review of Allied Schools – Online Real Estate Courses

4.4

PROS

Freedom to study your own way. Money-Back Guarantee. No proctoring required. No hidden fees. Optional hardcopy books.

CONS

On the higher end of the price range. Software User Interface looks like it’s from the ’90s. Limited live instructor support.

UPDATE: Allied Schools was acquired by Real Estate Express. They have moved to the Real Estate Express platform, which means they look the same as courses from Real Estate Express now. You can check out the Real Estate Express review to see what the new courses look like.

Allied Real Estate Schools has been the long-time industry leader for helping people get a real estate license. This review primarily focuses on their program for getting licensed in California. However, if you are in a different state, you can still get a good feel for their program since it is the same format. We are going to review their program in detail so you can decide if this program is right for you.

Price

There are 3 different packages to choose from. All 3 packages at Allied Schools cover the California state minimum requirement of the 3 real estate courses along with some practice tests for the state exam.

Both of the Premium packages offer additional study materials to help you on the state exam. They have the Money-Back Guarantee, which means that if you do not pass the state exam on your first attempt, they will give you a full refund. The Premium Plus package goes one step further and gives you the hardcopy books that accompany the 3 online courses.

It is really up to you which package you want to select. If you want the best chance at passing the state exam on the first attempt, then I recommend the Premium Plus package. This review on Allied Schools will focus primarily on that package since that is the one I picked for myself.

Taking the Courses

After you enroll in the program, you will receive an email with your login instructions to your online account. All of the course material is available online, so you can start the course immediately if you want. Allied Schools gives you online access to the 3 real estate courses, the Super Online Prep practice tests, real estate dictionary, and Exam Cram streaming videos.

The layout of Allied Schools‘ online courses are pretty straightforward. There’s a collapsible navigation pane on the left side if you want to jump to different areas of the course.

The course material is presented as a PDF that you can either read directly online or download it to your computer. This is the same content in the hardcopy books, which is easier to read from.

I really like that there is no schedule or deadlines. You get one year of unlimited access to study whenever you want, however you want. The only restriction is that you have to wait until Day 18 to access the final exam due to a California state requirement.

Course Format

Each course has 15 chapters, and there is an optional multiple-choice quiz for each chapter. Even though the quizzes are not required, it is a good idea to go through them to gauge how well you are absorbing the material. If you get the question wrong, it will give you the right answer along with a brief explanation.

The final exams look just like the quizzes, except there are 100 questions, and you have up to 3 hours to score 70% or better.

The course finals are also open-book, so if you get stuck on a question, you are allowed to look up the answer in the book.

Hardcopy Books

If you signed up for the Premium Plus package, you will also receive a package in the mail. It takes about 1 to 3 days to arrive, depending on your location. You get paperback books for the real estate courses, which are 500 pages to 600 pages long. The font size is nice and big with lots of pictures and diagrams, making it easy to read.

Exam Prep

Allied Schools will send you study materials with the Premium packages like the Exam Cram workbook, which you can write inside of. It is meant to be used when you are watching the Exam Cram streaming videos when studying for the state exam. There’s a small real estate dictionary, and you also get hundreds of color-coded flashcards which I found really helpful when preparing for the test.

Exam Cram Videos

Allied Schools provides you with Exam Cram videos that are streamed through your online account. There are 11 hours of content where the instructor walks you through each section on the state exam. You get the feeling like you are sitting in a classroom. The material is adequate after reviewing it, and is as exciting as you might expect it to be.

You only get 90 days of access from the time you open it up, so make sure you do not start watching it until you are ready to study for the test.

Super Prep Practice Exams

Allied Schools also give you the Salesperson Super Prep Practice Exams, which include online access to over 1,500 test questions to prepare you for the state exam.

There are two ways to use it: Practice Test or Mock Exams.

The Practice Test allows you to take questions from 12 different subjects of your choice. You can also set the number of questions you want to see. As you take your practice test, you will see hints for each question you answer.

The practice test questions are presented to you one at a time. If you answer them incorrectly, it will tell you the correct answer along with a brief explanation.

If you want to display all the practice test questions at once, there is an option to print it out on paper and answer them by hand.

The other option is to take the Mock Exams, which mimic the actual state exam where you have to answer 150 questions within 3 hours.

After you take a Mock Exam, it will give you a score summary that breaks down how you did in each category.

This is a really nice feature with Allied Schools program because you can easily review which area you are struggling in and where you are strong. You can go back to the Practice Tests and take questions from only the areas that you need the most improvement in (since you don’t need to spend any additional time studying in the areas that you are already strong in).

You get one full year to access the online practice test questions. However, if you use it for longer than 90 days, then you have to call Allied Schools to reset your account to get access for the next 90 days (up to a year). There’s no additional fee for this and it’s not that big of a deal, but it is kind of annoying having to reset your login.

Bottom Line

Overall, I’m happy with the Fast Track Premium Plus package. On the outside, it looks old and outdated, but on the inside, the program delivers solid content with very attractive features, such as their money-back guarantee and no surprise fees.

After having a chance to review the online real estate program at Allied Real Estate Schools, I would recommend this to anyone who is an independent learner and motivated about establishing a long-term real estate career.

Top 3 Online Real Estate Schools in Illinois

If you want to become a real estate agent in Illinois, you will need to fulfill the requirements set by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). This is the state agency that oversees all real estate-related activities and enforces the rules.

You should be aware there were some recent changes to obtain the Broker license. Before, they required people to complete 90 total hours of pre-licensing education. However, they lowered the requirement down to 75 hours. Also, 15 of those hours used to be required in a classroom or live webinar. Now, you can also take those 15 hours in a standard online format. In other words, the IDFPR has made it a lot easier to get licensed.

Real Estate Express, based out of St Louis, MO, is the dominant online real estate provider in the country. A big part of that is because they innovate and stay up-to-date on current regulations. In fact, they were one of the first schools to reflect the recent changes that lowered the required hours from 90 hours down to 75 hours.

The 75-hour program that they offer is 100% online and is broken up into two courses. The first part is the 60-hour Illinois Broker Prelicense Topics and the remaining 15 hours is called Managing Broker Pre-Applied Management and Supervision. The course itself consists of reading online and passing a set of multiple-choice questions. You have 6 months of online access to pass the final exams.

What I really like about how Real Estate Express is that they give you a lot of packages and options. The Basics is great for people on a tight budget. If you want to add on some exam prep for the Broker exam, the Exam Preparation (and up) packages contain over 1,000 practice test questions and are backed with a Pass or Don’t Pay Guarantee. This means that if you fail the Broker exam, they will give you all your money back. There are also live instructors available to ask questions with the Instructor Q&A as well as hardcopy books under the Ultimate Learning package. The Professional Development Membership and 90-day Boot Camp are additional video courses to help you hit the ground running once you are licensed.

There are four packages available:

  1. The Basics – $329 – This gets you the minimum 75 hours of Pre-licensing courses.
  2. Exam Preparation – $429 – You get The Basics plus 1,000 online practice test questions and a money-back guarantee.
  3. Exam Preparation Plus – $499 – You get Exam Preparation plus access to interact with instructors via live webinar at scheduled times. This also includes the Post-licensing course that you need to complete after you get licensed.
  4. Ultimate Learning – $593 – You get all of the above plus hardcopy books to accompany the online courses and additional video courses to help launch your real estate career.

Bottom Line: Best Overall

Real Estate Express has the most complete program out of any school. They have packages to accommodate anyone’s goals, whether you want to do the minimum amount of work to get licensed or if you want full support and additional training materials to help you after you get licensed. Backed by their industry-leading money-back guarantee and frequent promotions, you can’t go wrong with this program.

The CE Shop was founded in 2005 and is one of the few real estate schools that have programs in all 50 states. Although they call themselves “CE” (as in continuing education), they definitely do more than that. They have every course you will need before you get licensed as well as after you are licensed.

The CE Shop has really been propelling its way to the top of real estate education by developing their own proprietary learning platform called LEAP. This mobile-friendly platform is 100% online and was designed to make learning streamlined and engaging. They incorporate active learning to keep you on your toes the whole time and will come at you with questions from every angle. The courses take real-world examples and present them with techniques that are proven to help people retain the knowledge better. There are definitely no shortcuts with this program.

They offer three different packages for obtaining the Illinois Broker license:

  1. Standard – $325 – This package gets you all you need to successfully get licensed. You get all 75 hours of Pre-licensing courses plus unlimited practice exams to study for the Broker exam.
  2. Value – $375 – This includes the Standard package and includes 3 additional online courses to help you build your real estate business
  3. Premium – $475 – This includes the Value package as well as the 30-hour Post-licensing course

Bottom Line: Best for Overachievers

The CE Shop’s approach is to arm the student with as much knowledge as possible. They do an amazing job at presenting a wealth of information into a clean and sleek format. If you want to learn about real estate as much as possible, this is the perfect program for you. If you just want to fly through the pre-licensing courses as fast as possible, then this is definitely not the right program for you.

Illinois Realtors is the most prominent trade association for real estate agents in Illinois. There are over 50,000 active members that represent all aspects of a real estate transaction. To be clear, being a Broker doesn’t mean that you are automatically a realtor. You first have to get licensed as a Broker and then, you may be eligible to join the realtors association as a member. To become a member, you will have to pay annual membership dues and fulfill the continuing education requirements.

They have two options for obtaining the Broker license.

  1. 90-hour Broker Pre-license package – $544– This is an online program that includes a 75-hour course called Broker Pre-license Topics and a 15-hour Applied Real Estate Principles. You are given 6 months to complete the 60-hour course and can work on it at your own pace, at any time. The 15-hour course is a live webinar that you must attend at a pre-determined date. There will be polls and quizzes throughout the webinar. You do have to be logged in to the webinar the whole time. If you miss more than 15 minutes, you will be dropped from the course and have to re-take it from the beginning.
  2. Accelerated Broker Pre-license package – $619 – This is a 9-week program with classes every Wednesday that lasts 2 to 3 hours long. This is a blended format that has a combination of online reading and 20 hours of live webinar instruction, which is done in partnership with Eastern Illinois University. Although they call it “accelerated,” you are able to finish just as fast, if not faster, with the other package.

Bottom Line: Best for Networking

Illinois Realtors hasn’t updated their program yet to reflect the lower 75-hour pre-licensing requirement. That means that you will be doing (and paying for) the additional 15 hours of education. Nonetheless, if you are serious about building a real estate career and are thinking long-term, then having them listed on your resume will look good, especially if you are planning to join the realtors association.

Top 4 Real Estate Schools in Kentucky

If you want to become a real estate agent in Kentucky, you will need to obtain the Sales Associate license first. The Kentucky Real Estate Commission (KREC) is the agency that regulates the entire real estate industry for the state, including licensing requirements.

KREC requires that you complete 96 hours of approved real estate education and pass the Sales Associate exam to get licensed. It’s a pretty simple process to obtain the license. However, that largely depends on which school you decide to go with.

Every school has pros and cons. That’s why we have come up with a list of the four best real estate programs in Kentucky to help you become a real estate agent.

Best Bang for the Buck

$439 96-Hour Package

If you Googled “real estate school”, you probably saw Real Estate Express show up at the top of the search results. That’s because they have been around for about 30 years and are the biggest online real estate school in the nation. With a large school like this, you can rest assured that they know what they are doing and that their system works. In fact, their students have given them a 4.33 out of 5-star rating on their Kentucky courses alone. This is based on 496 reviews.

What I really like about Real Estate Express is your flexibility to customize the options that you want. If you just want to fulfill the minimum state requirements, you can get the cheapest package, The Basics. If you want to add on comprehensive study materials for the Sales Associate exam and extra training to take after you are licensed, you can go with the top package called Ultimate Learning. If you want something in between, there are two packages in the middle that you can choose from.

Also, Real Estate Express is the only school that I’ve seen that offers a true money-back guarantee, which means if you don’t pass the Sales Associate exam, they will give you all of your money back. Other schools usually only cover the $100 exam fee or only give you your money back after the second exam attempt.

Best Exam Prep

$415 96-Hour Package

Hondros College is a large online education provider located in the Midwest, offering programs in real estate, home inspection, appraisal, and much more. Despite its name, it’s not an actual college like where you would go to get a bachelor’s degree. That is not to say they don’t have a good program. Quite the contrary. They have helped over a million students in their 50-year history.

The 96-hour course is online and follows a pretty standard format. You get 6 months of unlimited access to complete the course. There are multiple-choice quizzes at the end of the chapters and when you reach the end, there is a final exam.

Their real claim to fame is their exam prep for the Sales Associate exam. CompuCram is what Hondros College calls their proprietary test prep that they have refined over the past several decades. You get study vocabulary tools along with simulated practice exams that will identify the areas that you need to focus on. There is a Readiness Indicator that gives you dynamic feedback on your progress and displays it on a meter. They report that 86.5% of people who use CompuCram will pass the exam on their first try.

If you want to read from a physical book, they are available for an additional cost in their most expensive package.

Best for Prestige

$679 96-Hour Package

Kentucky Realtor Institute (formerly known as the Kentucky Real Estate Education Foundation) is affiliated with the Kentucky Realtors Association. They actually don’t develop their own Sales Associate courses but have partnered with REcampus to sell theirs. Just to be clear, taking their pre-licensing courses does not make you a realtor. It just fulfills the state requirement to become a real estate agent, which is not the same thing. You can always become a realtor by joining the Kentucky Realtors Association directly after you obtain your license. While being a realtor is certainly not required for real estate agents, it does open up more opportunities.

The Kentucky Realtor Institute program consists of 4 parts:

  1. Part A
  2. Part B
  3. Course Project
  4. Final Exam

The course is 100% online with hardcopy books available at an additional cost. Part A and Part B can be taken in any order, but they must both be completed before starting the Course Project (and of course, the Final Exam). The Course Project involves two case studies. You are required to complete forms for both the buyer and seller side as well as answer multiple-choice quizzes. One thing I liked about this program is they give you one year to complete everything, which is much longer than other schools.

If you want additional exam prep for the Sales Associate exam, there are online practice test questions available for an added cost.

Best Small School

$359 96-Hour Package

2 My Classes is a one-woman show run by Joyce Bea Sterling. She writes her own KREC-approved material, has over 14,000 hours of experience as a certified instructor, and is a realtor herself. She does it all! She definitely takes a more personal approach with her school. In fact, if you miss less than two questions on the Sales Associate exam, she will buy you lunch as a bonus reward.

2 My Classes is online and is broken up into three parts:

  1. 60 hours of From the Ground Up to cover the National portion
  2. 32 hours of Kentucky Laws to cover the State portion
  3. Course Final Exam

The courses come with physical textbooks and consist of mainly reading. However, there are also videos, audio files, and matching quizzes incorporated throughout the course to make it more engaging. The Kentucky Laws course also has a section with a live webinar, where you can interact with the instructors via a webcam from home. These webinars are held at pre-scheduled dates.

Although it’s great to be able to learn from one of the most knowledgeable instructors in Kentucky, there is also some risk. There aren’t a lot of extra study materials or packages to choose from. This program requires you to take the final exams on Tuesday evenings. Support hours are limited and responses to your questions will be slower compared to a bigger school. You are putting all your eggs in one person.

Top 4 Online Real Estate Schools in Virginia

It can feel exhilarating when you decide to get a real estate license. Then, when you go through the steps to actually do it, you may get second thoughts.

The truth is that it’s actually a pretty easy process to start working in the real estate industry… if you do it the right way. I have friends and have talked to many others in passing that they struggled in the beginning because they simply tried to wing it or save a couple of bucks by going with the cheapest school they could find.

This is an investment into your future. If you want the best outcome possible for yourself, shouldn’t you go with the best program that will get you there? That’s why we have come up with the “Big 4” real estate schools in Virginia. You can pick any school from this list and be confident that they will help you start working in Real Estate Like A Boss.

Best Overall Value

Real Estate Express is by far the biggest online school in the real estate industry. They have a plethora of options available for you to choose from. While most schools offer two or three packages, they give you four packages to pick from. If you have a small budget or you are not totally committed to a full-blown career in real estate, you can try out the lowest package called The Basics. This gets you the required course to get licensed at the cheapest price. However, I would recommend, at the very least, going with the Exam Preparation package, which is the next level up. It adds on 1,000 online practice test questions to help you study for the state exam and gives you the Pass or Don’t Pay Guarantee, which means if you don’t pass the state exam, they will give you a full refund!

The courses can be repetitive at times, but I guess that just helps drill the material into your head better. I liked the interactive videos they have at the end of each section. It helps you focus on the main points that you really need to remember.

Best for Millennials

Aceable Agent is bursting into real estate education with a fresh approach. They don’t believe that learning has to be boring and are using technology to help make that happen. Their courses are designed by top-producing real estate agents, so they know what you really need to know and perhaps, more importantly, what you don’t.

They only offer one package, so you don’t have the ability to customize it based on the things you actually want. However, if you are starting out new to real estate, then this will definitely be all you need. It has the required 60-hour pre-license course and some practice tests. This package has been built to be comprehensive enough so you won’t need anything else to successfully get licensed. They also provide you with instructors called Career Mentors that can help you 7 days a week.

Believe it or not, most real estate schools don’t have a mobile app. Aceable Agent does. This makes education-on-the-go a snap. While you are waiting in line at the grocery store or sitting in the waiting room at the doctor’s office, you can easily pull out your phone and study for a few minutes. When you get back to your laptop or desktop computer, you will seamlessly be able to pick up where you left off.

Best for Prestige

Kaplan Real Estate is the 800-pound gorilla of real estate education. This billion-dollar company has been around for almost 100 years, and is one of the most recognized brands in the world. Being such a well-respected brand with top-notch instructors, they do charge premium prices for their courses.

Regarding the Virginia real estate courses, they give you three simple online options. You can get the 60 hour course as a standalone course. This is a text-based format that gives you an introduction into real estate laws. With their middle package, you get exam prep too. This is a video course with multiple-choice questions that is broken up into separate components to help you with both the national and state components of the exam. With this package, you also get to participate in their Interactive Study Groups. This is a live webinar that makes you feel like you a part of the class. You can join in on the discussions and ask the faculty your questions.

If you really want to hit the ground running, Kaplan Real Estate has a Career Launcher package for an extra $200. This includes an intense 8-hour course along with 8 weeks of professional coaching that allows you to get immediate training after you get licensed.

Best for Academic Achievers

If you are one of those people who genuinely enjoys learning, The CE Shop is the perfect school for you. While they do not offer any physical study materials such as hardcopy books, they designed their online platform to make sure you learn the material in multiple ways. You are not just reading the whole time like at other online schools. They developed their own proprietary system called LEAP to give you scenario-based examples to make it as close to what you will experience in the real world as an agent. The LEAP system also encourages active learning with frequent multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blank, and matching quizzes. This system seems to be working: 77% of their students pass the national portion and 74% of people pass the state exam. Compare this with the state average of 56% and 58%, respectively.

The packages aren’t laid out very well on the website. Their Standard package gives you everything you need to get licensed. You get the 60-hour course and exam prep. If you want to add on some extra training to help get your real estate business going after you get licensed, they have offer those in the Value Package. With their top package, the Premium package, you get all of the above as well as the post-licensing course.
