Real Estate Express Has A New Look – FULL REVIEW

4.6

PROS

Customizable packages. Post-license training. Money-back guarantee. Frequent promotions. Hardcopy books available.

CONS

Limited support hours. No live or interactive pre-license courses. No mobile app.

Real Estate Express just came out with a new platform for their online real estate courses. It has a completely new look and feel. Some of the changes are good, while others are questionable. We will dive into a comprehensive review of the new Real Estate Express platform to see if it will be the best choice for you to get a real estate license.

For the purposes of this review, we will be focusing on their California program. However, if you are in a different state, the real estate program are all the same. It is just the material in the courses that will be different.

Pricing

No matter which state you are from, Real Estate Express always gives you 4 packages to choose from to obtain your real estate license. There is a wide range of pricing options available (and frequent promotions), so you should be able to find something that fits within your budget.

The Basics package includes the online course that fulfills your state’s education requirements. The text-based course is just like reading a book, and you get 6 months of unlimited access to finish the course. If you have questions, this package only includes email support, so it may take up to 24 hours before you get a response back. With the 3 eBooks, you can download the entire course text in a PDF file for offline viewing as well as the two supplemental study materials, Math handbook and Quick Start guide, to give you additional tips.

If you have a small budget or already a lot of real estate experience, this package will work the best for you.

The Exam Preparation package is really the minimum package that most people should go with, because it includes test prep for the real estate exam that you are going to have to take at a designated testing center. You get access to over 1,000 online multiple-choice practice test questions just like what you see on the actual test. This is covered by their Pass or Don’t Pay Guarantee, which means that if you do not pass the real estate exam, they will give you 100% of your money back.

The Exam Preparation Plus package is the most popular and delivers the most value. You get a lot more comprehensive study materials for the real estate test. The Exam Cram Video includes over 11 hours of video content that walks you through the state exam from beginning to end. It makes you feel like you are watching this in a classroom. If you have questions, this package also includes live instructor support through the Instructor Q&A, where you can ask questions directly and get an immediate answer back. If your state requires post-license education, this package will also include that as well.

If you want the best chance for successfully getting licensed on your first try, your best bet is to go with the Ultimate Learning package. This is the most expensive option because it includes hardcopy books to accompany the online courses and provides extra training courses for you to take after you get licensed. The 90-day Bootcamp is a video course that is led by real estate coach Sheri Johnson. She will show you how to close your first real estate transaction in the first 90 days of getting licensed. The Professional Development gives you access to a database of supplemental resources, such as webinars, job-aids, discussion forum, partner discounts, and more.

User Interface

Dashboard

When you log in to your Real Estate Express account, you are welcomed with a simple and clean interface. It is relatively easy to navigate through and find what you are looking for. You can access your account settings to change your password, view past receipts, and update your contact information in the profile section on the top right corner.

The courses that you are enrolled in show up on the front page. There is a navigation pane on the left side that allows you to quickly jump to your online courses, certificates for courses that you have already completed, or to get help searching for a broker under Career Support.

The only issue that I found with the dashboard was the order in which the courses were being displayed. The exam prep is listed at the top of the page and the course that you will actually be taking first shows up at the bottom. That means that every time you log in to your account, you will have to scroll all the way down to the bottom to get to your first course. There is a Sort function that is available, but it does not seem to be working or help with this.

Taking the Courses

You are given 6 months of unlimited access to complete any course that you have opened. This is important because most states require more than one course (and you can only take one course at a time), so your 6 months won’t start until you open each individual course. However, you will still have a maximum of 1 year to finish all of the pre-license courses in your package, even if you have not opened it.

Course Layout

The way the course is actually laid out is pretty standard for an online course. You get a page of text, and you just read through it like a book. There is a navigation pane on the left side which allows you to jump chapters. However, if you need to take a break and log out, it will save your spot. There is a also a progress tracker at the bottom, so you can see how much you have completed and how left you have to do.

Passing Requirements

Regardless of which state you are in, all of the online courses require that you pass the multiple-choice quizzes that are at the end of each chapter as well as a cumulative final exam at the end of the course.

You can attempt to pass the quizzes an unlimited number of times. However, you may be required to read the chapter again first. For the final exams, you are given 2 attempts before you have to pay a re-take fee.

Depending on your state, you may have to spend a certain amount of hours logged in online. Real Estate Express will track this for you automatically, and you can check your progress as you go. If your state does not require this, then you just need to pass the quizzes and final exam.

Some states will also require proctored final exams. A proctor is someone who will monitor you while you take the final exam. This is to ensure that it is you taking the exam and that there is no cheating going on. Real Estate Express provides online proctoring for some of their programs, where their proctor will watch you take the test via a webcam. You can also designate your own proctors. However, not anyone will qualify. They cannot live at the same residence or be related to you. You can check with your state to see their proctoring requirements.

State Exam Prep

After you fulfill the pre-licensing course requirements, all states will require you to take a real estate exam at a testing center. Real Estate Express provides several study tools to help you pass the exam successfully.

Exam Prep Master

This is what is included in the packages under “Exam Prep.” It is a compilation of over 1,000 multiple choice questions designed to simulate the actual exam. You answer each question one at a time. If you answer incorrectly, it will give you a brief explanation on the correct answer. There are  a variety of different ways you can take these questions.

The most straight-forward way is to take the Progress Exams. Instead of having you answer all of the questions at once, they are broken down into ten manageable practice tests that consist of 45 questions each. To qualify for their Pass or Don’t Pay Guarantee, you will need to score an 80% or better on all of them. You have an unlimited number of attempts to pass.

After the Progress Exams, there are two national and three state final exams that will give you a breakdown summary of how you are doing by topic.

You can then create your own practice custom exams based on the topics of your choice. That way, you can focus on the areas where you need most improvement, since you won’t need to spend as much time studying on the topics you are already strong in.

Exam Cram Video (California only)

For the Exam Preparation Plus and Ultimate Learning packages, there is an additional video course that is included. This consists of over 11 hours of instruction that walks you through the seven main areas of the California real estate exam. This is a recorded video, so you can watch and re-watch it as needed.

Real Estate Express - Exam Cram Video

Supplemental Materials

All of their programs come with complimentary flashcards that you can download.

If you prefer to read out of a physical book, you can only get them with the Ultimate Learning package.

Support

State-Approved Instructor Support

All of their programs include email support with a certified real estate instructor. You can email them directly, or ask them right inside of the course. It may take 1 to 2 business days to get a response back. Support is available Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm CST.

Instructor Q&A

If you want to be able to talk to the instructor directly, the top two packages Exam Preparation Plus and Ultimate Learning include live webinar support. There are typically three sessions available throughout the day from Monday through Friday. Some sessions have pre-determined course topics and others are open sessions where you can just ask any question. They publish a new webinar schedule each month and will email it to you.

Career Development

After you get your real estate license, Real Estate Express provides additional training to help you launch your real estate career. Although you can purchase these tools directly as standalone products, you get the best deal if you sign up for the Ultimate Learning package.

90-day Boot Camp

Real Estate Express partnered with the dynamic real estate coach Sherri Johnson. She is a real estate agent with a deep passion for management and brokerage coaching and consulting. Sherri has a track record as a top-producing real estate agent, ranked in the top 25 out of 1,700 agents. She also has corporate management experience is as a regional and executive vice president.

Her 90-day Bootcamp program includes:

  • 4-Part Series to Kick-Start Your Success! In addition to over 60 minutes of instructional videos directly from national real estate coach Sherri Johnson herself, you will be able to access her scripts, strategies and secrets for how to create immediate results.
  • The 90-Day Bootcamp Strategy List! This is your guide to help you create listings and close more sales. Use this checklist to track your progress along the way.
  • Expert Bootcamp Support! Talk to real estate experts at anytime for extra assistance in learning the strategies.

This has been designed to quickly help you gain the skills needed to generate new listings, buyers, sales, lead conversion, presentations, marketing, social media, and more. This exclusive product ensures you will produce income in your first 90 days and can help you exceed your goals your first year.

This can be purchased separately for $297.

Professional Development Membership

This is an annual membership program that gives you access to hundreds of video tutorials, job aids, blog posts, and more. It is basically a self-help respository of learning tools that will help you fill in those missing gaps of knowledge as you go. The first year comes included free with the Ulitmate Learning package.

Bottom Line

It’s not hard to see why Real Estate Express is leading the way in real estate education. They are the only school to offer a complete career solution, offering courses not just to help you get licensed but also ongoing tools to help you take your career to the next level.

The biggest area where they could improve is by offering more variety in terms of course format to make the classes more engaging. Currently, all of their pre-licensing courses are only text-based, which can get boring at times. It would be nice if they offered live webinars or recorded video pre-license courses that are available with some of the other education providers.

Nonetheless, Real Estate Express offers more packages and options than any other real estate school, which gives you the flexibility to study as much or as little as you want. The courses have a modern look and the layout is easy to follow. Their money-back guarantee along with their frequent promotions make this hard to beat. I would not hesitate to recommend this to a family member or friend.

REVIEW | Texas Real Estate Online Classes

Everybody who wants to get into the real estate industry has the same goal of obtaining a real estate license. However, not everyone is doing it for the same reason.

That’s why it is important to find the right real estate school that understands where you are coming from and what your needs will be. We have reviewed the entire list of Texas-accredited real estate schools and found the best programs that are tailored to fit your individual situation.

If you already have a full-time job or looking for a career change, we recommend:

Aceable Agent has the hottest real estate program in Texas right now. They are actually the newest real estate school in the industry, yet they have soared to being one of the top 3 schools in terms of the number of people getting licensed each year. They have accomplished this by perfecting a learning system that has engaging content, adapts to your own learning style, and by leaving out the stuff that isn’t important.

While other schools have multiple packages for you to choose from, they have only have one package. That’s because your goal is to get a real estate license, so they have packaged everything into an All-in-One solution for you to make that happen. You don’t ever have to worry about not having enough study materials or second guessing yourself with the “would’ve”, “could’ve”, “should’ve” thoughts. You get everything right the first time, saving time for busy working professionals.

The courses are online with videos incorporated throughout. There is a mobile app that you can download on your phone, so you can easily study from anywhere. If their industry-leading 79.6% pass rate on the Agent exam still doesn’t have you convinced, they back up their program with their Ace the Test Guarantee, which means that if you don’t pass the Agent exam, they will give you 100% refund.

If you want to build the foundation for a long-term career, we recommend:

Colibri Real Estate is the largest online real estate school in the country. They have a ton of courses, the biggest staff of instructors, and a lot of resources to help you during your entire career. Colibri Real Estate also gives you the most choices with four packages to choose from. If you tend to overanalyze things like I do sometimes, this can leave you in a state of “paralysis by analysis.”

If you are 100% committed to being a real estate agent and planning for the long-term, the Exam Preparation Plus package is the best program to build your career from.

You not only get the first 6 courses to get licensed (180 total hours), but it also includes the other 3 courses (90 hours of SAE courses) that are required after you get licensed. TREC does give you 2 years after you are licensed to turn in your SAE courses. However, if you do them earlier, they will prepare you for the Agent Exam more by giving you that additional 90 hours of knowledge under your belt. Not to mention you save a ton of money. If you buy it later, Colibri Real Estate charges $249 for the 90-hour SAE package.

To top it off, you get access to talk to the instructors with the Instructor Q&A sessions. There are 3 live webinar sessions Monday through Friday at specific times where the instructor is on a webcam answering your questions on the spot.

If you don’t like reading books or get distractedly easily, we recommend:

Kaplan is one of the biggest names in education around the world. For over 80 years, they have been a beacon for expanding access to education and a leader in innovation. They have over a million students worldwide in a hundred different countries. While they have courses available in every format, where they really excel is with their live classes.

If reading a book is too boring and not going to work for you, we recommend going with the Live Online Solution (180-Credit Hours) package. These classes make you feel like you are in a real classroom. You are engaged the whole time because you are watching the instructor give a live stream video presentation. If you have any questions, you can ask them right on the spot. That does also mean that the classes start on specific dates and times, so you have to make sure you login on time. However, you don’t have to worry about traffic or driving anywhere. You can just watch from the comfort of your house.

If you absolutely need to be in a physical classroom to stay engaged, they do have that option as well. The Live Class Solution package is available for an additional $100.

If you won’t need any help on the courses or want to save the most money, we recommend:

360training.com is one of the premier providers of online education. They primarily specialize in real estate, the food and beverage industry, and environmental health and safety. Having been around for over 20 years, they have helped millions of people get licensed with their courses. 360training.com really focuses on getting what you need to fulfill state regulatory requirements at the lowest cost. They don’t have any additional career training options, job aids, or even live support.

If you have a lot of real estate experience already and won’t need any help, then the 180-hour Basic Texas Pre-License Package is the most cost-effective option for you. This would also be good if you just want to try out real estate as a hobby, since these courses are so cheap.

These online courses are in the standard text-based format, where you can unlimited access for 6 months. There will be multiple-choice quizzes and tests as you move through the course. There is nothing fancy about it, but it gets the job done while saving you a ton of money.

Review of Allied Schools – Online Real Estate Courses

4.4

PROS

Freedom to study your own way. Money-Back Guarantee. No proctoring required. No hidden fees. Optional hardcopy books.

CONS

On the higher end of the price range. Software User Interface looks like it’s from the ’90s. Limited live instructor support.

UPDATE: Allied Schools was acquired by Real Estate Express. They have moved to the Real Estate Express platform, which means they look the same as courses from Real Estate Express now. You can check out the Real Estate Express review to see what the new courses look like.

Allied Real Estate Schools has been the long-time industry leader for helping people get a real estate license. This review primarily focuses on their program for getting licensed in California. However, if you are in a different state, you can still get a good feel for their program since it is the same format. We are going to review their program in detail so you can decide if this program is right for you.

Price

There are 3 different packages to choose from. All 3 packages at Allied Schools cover the California state minimum requirement of the 3 real estate courses along with some practice tests for the state exam.

Both of the Premium packages offer additional study materials to help you on the state exam. They have the Money-Back Guarantee, which means that if you do not pass the state exam on your first attempt, they will give you a full refund. The Premium Plus package goes one step further and gives you the hardcopy books that accompany the 3 online courses.

It is really up to you which package you want to select. If you want the best chance at passing the state exam on the first attempt, then I recommend the Premium Plus package. This review on Allied Schools will focus primarily on that package since that is the one I picked for myself.

Taking the Courses

After you enroll in the program, you will receive an email with your login instructions to your online account. All of the course material is available online, so you can start the course immediately if you want. Allied Schools gives you online access to the 3 real estate courses, the Super Online Prep practice tests, real estate dictionary, and Exam Cram streaming videos.

The layout of Allied Schools‘ online courses are pretty straightforward. There’s a collapsible navigation pane on the left side if you want to jump to different areas of the course.

The course material is presented as a PDF that you can either read directly online or download it to your computer. This is the same content in the hardcopy books, which is easier to read from.

I really like that there is no schedule or deadlines. You get one year of unlimited access to study whenever you want, however you want. The only restriction is that you have to wait until Day 18 to access the final exam due to a California state requirement.

Course Format

Each course has 15 chapters, and there is an optional multiple-choice quiz for each chapter. Even though the quizzes are not required, it is a good idea to go through them to gauge how well you are absorbing the material. If you get the question wrong, it will give you the right answer along with a brief explanation.

The final exams look just like the quizzes, except there are 100 questions, and you have up to 3 hours to score 70% or better.

The course finals are also open-book, so if you get stuck on a question, you are allowed to look up the answer in the book.

Hardcopy Books

If you signed up for the Premium Plus package, you will also receive a package in the mail. It takes about 1 to 3 days to arrive, depending on your location. You get paperback books for the real estate courses, which are 500 pages to 600 pages long. The font size is nice and big with lots of pictures and diagrams, making it easy to read.

Exam Prep

Allied Schools will send you study materials with the Premium packages like the Exam Cram workbook, which you can write inside of. It is meant to be used when you are watching the Exam Cram streaming videos when studying for the state exam. There’s a small real estate dictionary, and you also get hundreds of color-coded flashcards which I found really helpful when preparing for the test.

Exam Cram Videos

Allied Schools provides you with Exam Cram videos that are streamed through your online account. There are 11 hours of content where the instructor walks you through each section on the state exam. You get the feeling like you are sitting in a classroom. The material is adequate after reviewing it, and is as exciting as you might expect it to be.

You only get 90 days of access from the time you open it up, so make sure you do not start watching it until you are ready to study for the test.

Super Prep Practice Exams

Allied Schools also give you the Salesperson Super Prep Practice Exams, which include online access to over 1,500 test questions to prepare you for the state exam.

There are two ways to use it: Practice Test or Mock Exams.

The Practice Test allows you to take questions from 12 different subjects of your choice. You can also set the number of questions you want to see. As you take your practice test, you will see hints for each question you answer.

The practice test questions are presented to you one at a time. If you answer them incorrectly, it will tell you the correct answer along with a brief explanation.

If you want to display all the practice test questions at once, there is an option to print it out on paper and answer them by hand.

The other option is to take the Mock Exams, which mimic the actual state exam where you have to answer 150 questions within 3 hours.

After you take a Mock Exam, it will give you a score summary that breaks down how you did in each category.

This is a really nice feature with Allied Schools program because you can easily review which area you are struggling in and where you are strong. You can go back to the Practice Tests and take questions from only the areas that you need the most improvement in (since you don’t need to spend any additional time studying in the areas that you are already strong in).

You get one full year to access the online practice test questions. However, if you use it for longer than 90 days, then you have to call Allied Schools to reset your account to get access for the next 90 days (up to a year). There’s no additional fee for this and it’s not that big of a deal, but it is kind of annoying having to reset your login.

Bottom Line

Overall, I’m happy with the Fast Track Premium Plus package. On the outside, it looks old and outdated, but on the inside, the program delivers solid content with very attractive features, such as their money-back guarantee and no surprise fees.

After having a chance to review the online real estate program at Allied Real Estate Schools, I would recommend this to anyone who is an independent learner and motivated about establishing a long-term real estate career.

Top Online Real Estate Schools in the US | POWER RANKING

When you decide to become a real estate agent and get licensed, you are excited and eager to see what the future will bring. You are building a new career (or trying to get out of one). So, when you do a quick search to find the best real estate school, you discover there are a lot of choices out there. Thousands of choices.

Although they may sound the same on the surface, each real estate school is different. They develop their own content, have their own staff of instructors, and they build their courses on different technology platforms.

It can all be very confusing but don’t worry. Whether you already have a full-time job and want to make some extra cash on the side, or if you are fresh out of college trying to build a new career, I got you. Here is the list of the 7 best real estate schools in the nation to get licensed.

Aceable Agent is one of the most innovative real estate schools in the industry. They have programs across multiple states and adding more every year. Aceable Agent wants to change how people learn. They focus on incorporating state of the art technology to make the courses as engaging and memorable as possible. They have a 4.8 out of 5 star rating based on over 1,000 reviews on Trustpilot, so it is safe to say that their formula is working.

This is the largest real estate school in the country, and they give you the most options more than any other school. Hardcopy books, live instructor support, video training courses, and money-back guarantees are just some examples of what you can get. Whether you are on a tight budget or can afford to get everything they have to offer, there is something for everyone. Plus, they seem to have a promotion going on all the time, so you can get a great deal too.

Kaplan is one of the most well-establisehd and well-known brands in education in the world. Founded in 1938, they have since grown into a $1.5 billion juggernaut in the industry. Regarding real estate education, where they really shine is their video courses, being one of a few handful of schools that offer them. Depending on availability, there are live webinars where you watch it at a scheduled time over the internet or you can take the recorded ones which allow you to watch it at any time.

Contrary to its name, The CE Shop offers more than just continuing education. They offer pre-licensing courses and exam prep to help you get licensed in most states. They are a 100% online only program, so they don’t offer any physical study materials like hardcopy books. They focus on making their courses rigorous, which forces you to study harder. There are no shortcuts, and they will definitely put your knowledge to the test, which will also give you the confidence to pass the state exam with ease.

OnCourse learning has been quietly moving up the ranks in online real estate education. They are one of only two online school to offer both the real estate and mortgage license programs across the nation, so if you need both licenses, you can get them all at one place. There is nothing too flashy going on here. They don’t bother with throwing a lot of extra features that you don’t need at you. They focus on presenting you with what you need to know and delivering it at the highest quality while still making it affordable.

Hondros College is the dominant real estate school in the Midwest. Although they are based in Ohio and specialize in getting the Ohio real estate license, they do have online programs for most other states for real estate, mortgage, and appraisal. However, it is their live classes in Ohio that they are best known for. They have 6 locations in Ohio: Westerville, Uniontown, West Chester, Independence, Fairborn, and Maumee. If you are on a tight budget, they have partnered with Paypal to offer qualifying applicants a 0% interest payment plan for six months.

COMPLETE LIST of Real Estate Schools in Iowa

Whether you need to take courses to obtain an Iowa real estate license or simply get continuing education to renew an existing license, you will need to make sure you get them from a school that has been approved by the Iowa Professional Licensing Bureau (PLB).

There are currently 52 approved schools listed on their website. However, it’s not as easy as just picking any school off the list. There are some schools that only offer continuing education courses and not pre-licensing courses. While other schools offer pre-licensing courses but not the three required 12-hour courses that have to be taken in a classroom. I found some schools that haven’t posted information about any upcoming classes or don’t have a website at all, which makes me wonder if they are even still in business. Then, there are the ones with marketing gimmicks such as promotional discounts and money-back guarantees, which makes you wonder about the quality of the content.

If you want to save yourself the hassle that I went through to find the best real estate school for getting an Iowa real estate license, check out my list below.

List of Kansas Real Estate Schools | POWER RANKINGS

The great thing about getting a real estate license in Kansas is that you don’t have to sift through a long list of schools to pick from. The bad thing is you don’t have a whole lot of options. In fact, there are currently only 17 real estate schools that offer courses approved by the Kansas Real Estate Commission (KREC).

We have gone through the entire list and ranked them according to who we think will get you licensed successfully. Before we review the list of real estate schools, let’s first take a look at what KREC requires to obtain the real estate license.

Education Requirements for Salespersons

  • 30 hours – Principles
    • Reciprocity: If you hold an active real estate license in another state, you are exempt from having to take this course.
  • 30 hours – Practice

Special note: Once you complete the courses, you have a limited amount of time to turn in the certificates. Otherwise, they will not be accepted, and you will have to re-take the courses. For Principles, you have 12 months from the time you complete the course until your scheduled exam date with PearsonVue. For the Practice course, you will have to get a criminal background check and complete your license application within 6 months of completing this course. You are also required to pass the state exam within 12 months of finishing this course.

Education Requirements for Brokers

  • 30 hours – Broker Fundamentals – Course certificate must be filed within 12 months of completion
  • 30 hours – Broker Management (Effective January 2020) – Course certificate must be filed within 6 months of completion
  • 4 hours – Kansas Law – Course certificate must be filed within 6 months of completion
