How To Renew Your MLO License

The NMLS Policy Committee (NMLSPC) determines the requirements for continuing education (CE) for Mortgage Loan Originators.

They have required that every licensed MLO complete a minimum of 8 hours of CE every calendar year.

If you just got your license, then you will still have to take the CE in the same year. The only exception is if you completed your pre-license education (PE) course requirements in the same year your license was approved. Then, you won’t have to do the CE for that year.

When you finish the course, your education provider will be submitting the certificates to the NMLS. It is essential to keep in mind this can take up to 7 days. So, it is recommended to complete your CE by the SMART Deadline so that your renewal gets processed on time.

SMART Deadline – Friday, December 17, 2019
At Risk to Miss the Renewal Deadline – Friday, December 24, 2019
Guaranteed to Miss Renewal Deadline: Tuesday, December 31, 2019

If you miss the deadline, you will be required to take an additional 8 hour Late CE course.
